1. Who we are and what this policy covers
TRUSTEEFRIEND, LLC, doing business as TrusteeFriend, and the subsidiaries identified below (collectively, “TrusteeFriend,” “we,” “us,” or “our”) provide estate-planning tools and related services.
This Privacy Policy explains how we collect, use, disclose, and retain personal information when you visit trusteefriend.com, app.trusteefriend.com, prep.trusteefriend.com, trusteeplanners.com, or trusteeplan.com, or our related websites that link to this policy, use our browser-based applications, complete questionnaires, create or manage estate-planning documents, communicate with us, or use our related services (collectively, the “Services”).
Covered subsidiaries: trusteeplanners, LLP and trusteeplan, LLC. Each listed entity follows this policy for the Services it provides. The entity identified in your service agreement or at collection is responsible for its handling of your information. You may contact us using Section 13 to identify the entity responsible for your information.
Our partner law firm is RLP Help, LLC. This policy covers TrusteeFriend’s handling of information shared in connection with requested services; it does not govern RLP Help, LLC’s separate handling of information in providing legal services.
This policy does not govern an independent attorney, planner, notary, financial professional, or other third party’s separate services. Those providers may have their own privacy notices and professional obligations. If a service has a supplemental privacy notice, that notice explains any additional or different practices for that service.
We serve customers in all U.S. states.

Calls may be audio-recorded or transcribed. At the beginning of a call that will be recorded or transcribed, an audio announcement informs participants of that activity. Staff use recordings and transcripts for training and quality assurance.
Payments. We accept payments through Stripe, Sunbit, and LawPay, as well as checks. Payment and financing providers process information in connection with the payment method you choose and may handle certain information under their own privacy notices. Full payment card numbers, bank details, and check images retained for TrusteeFriend’s payment processing are stored only in Stripe.
3. Where information comes from
We collect information directly from you when you register, complete forms, upload documents, make purchases, or contact us. We also collect certain information automatically through the Services and the technologies described in Section 6.
We may receive information from people you authorize to participate in your plan, professionals working with you, and service providers that support transactions and operation of the Services, to the extent relevant to the services requested.
Someone creating an estate plan may provide information about a spouse, child, beneficiary, trustee, guardian, or other person. If you provide another person’s information, you should have authority or another lawful basis to do so and provide this policy to that person when appropriate. Being named in a plan does not by itself give someone access to the account or documents.
We also receive customer information from referral partners, public property records, and accounts you connect to the Services.
4. How we use information
We use personal information for the purposes described above and to:
- Deliver the Services you request, including questionnaire completion, document preparation, plan updates, scheduling, and customer support.
- Coordinate with professionals and other participants you authorize.
- Process purchases, send service communications, and maintain business records.
- Protect accounts and the Services, investigate suspected misuse, prevent fraud, and resolve disputes.
- Diagnose technical problems and improve the reliability and usability of the Services.
- Send marketing communications where permitted, subject to your choices.
- Comply with applicable legal obligations and enforce our agreements.
Where applicable law requires consent to process sensitive information or for another activity, we obtain that consent separately. This policy does not itself constitute that consent.
AI and automated processing: We use AI tools from OpenAI and Anthropic (Claude) to organize intake information. The customer information we submit for this purpose consists of names, dates of birth, addresses, and phone numbers.
5. How we disclose information
We disclose personal information as relevant to the following purposes:
Service providers. Providers that help us host and operate the Services, store information, process payments, deliver communications, schedule appointments, provide support, maintain security, and prepare or deliver documents may receive information needed for their work. Our technology providers include Cloudflare, Webflow, Zoom, Google Workspace (G Suite), Adobe, and Microsoft. The information a provider receives depends on the features we use and the services it performs for us. Payment providers are described in Section 2.
Staff, professionals, referral partners, and people you authorize. Our staff, attorneys, planners, notaries, and referral partners may access customer information in connection with providing or coordinating the Services. Customers may also authorize family members and other collaborators to access their information. To grant a family member access, customers must invite them through their app.trusteefriend.com account. Customers can remove a family member’s access under Family in that account. Independent professionals may maintain their own records under their agreements and legal obligations. Access by referral partners for service coordination does not authorize their use of customer information for their own marketing.
Covered subsidiaries. The entities identified in Section 1 may receive information to provide and support the Services, administer accounts, or perform the other purposes described in this policy, subject to applicable law. Inclusion in this policy does not give every subsidiary unrestricted access to your information.
Legal and protective purposes. We may disclose information when required by law or when reasonably necessary to respond to valid legal process, protect rights or safety, investigate fraud or security incidents, or establish, exercise, or defend legal claims.
Business transactions. Information may be disclosed in connection with a proposed or completed merger, acquisition, financing, reorganization, or transfer of all or part of our business, subject to appropriate confidentiality protections and applicable law.
At your direction or with consent. We may disclose information when you request or authorize it, or when you otherwise consent.
Sale, sharing, and targeted advertising. We do not sell personal information, share it for cross-context behavioral advertising, or use it for targeted advertising. We do not disclose customer information to partners for their own marketing.
6. Cookies and similar technologies
We do not use Google Analytics, Meta Pixel, Google Ads, session-recording tools, or similar analytics or advertising tools.
You can manage cookies through your browser settings. Restricting technologies necessary to operate the Services may affect some features. We obtain consent for optional technologies where required by applicable law.
7. How long we keep information
We retain personal information as needed to provide the Services and for the periods required by applicable law. Retention requirements vary by record type and jurisdiction.
You may request deletion of your account and documents by emailing team@trusteefriend.com. We will process your request subject to identity verification and applicable legal requirements and exceptions. If we must retain certain information, we will explain the applicable reason unless prohibited by law. Deletion from our Services does not invalidate an executed estate-planning document or automatically delete copies maintained independently by professionals or other recipients.
The appropriate period depends on the information’s sensitivity, your relationship with us, the service requested, applicable recordkeeping requirements, and whether the information is needed for an outstanding transaction, dispute, or legal obligation.
8. Security
Our security measures include encryption and two-factor authentication. No internet transmission or storage system can be guaranteed completely secure.
Keep your account credentials and private document links confidential. If you suspect unauthorized access to your account or information, contact us using Section 13.
9. Your choices and privacy rights
You may request updates to your account information or ask about account closure by contacting us. You can unsubscribe from marketing emails using the link in those emails. Service-related communications may continue when necessary to provide the Services or meet legal obligations.
We send marketing emails and text messages. To opt out of text messages, reply STOP. For marketing emails, use the unsubscribe link in the email. Opting out of marketing does not prevent necessary service communications through other appropriate channels. This Privacy Policy does not itself constitute consent to receive marketing messages.
SMS Messaging Privacy
TrusteeFriend may collect your mobile telephone number and records of your consent to receive text messages when you voluntarily enroll in our SMS messaging program. We use this information to send transactional and customer-care communications, including questionnaire reminders, appointment coordination, document-status updates, signing notifications, account updates, and responses to support requests.
Message frequency varies. Message and data rates may apply.
We do not sell or share your SMS opt-in data or personal information with third parties for marketing purposes. Mobile telephone numbers, SMS opt-in data, and messaging consent will not be sold, rented, transferred, or shared with third parties or affiliates for their own marketing or promotional purposes. We may provide information to service providers solely as necessary to deliver and support our messaging service.
You may withdraw consent at any time by replying STOP. For assistance, reply HELP, email support@trusteefriend.com, or call 888-251-2553.
Your privacy rights
Depending on your location and applicable law, you may have rights to:
- Confirm whether we process your personal information and obtain access or a portable copy.
- Correct inaccurate information or request deletion.
- Obtain information about disclosures, including specific third-party recipients where required.
- Opt out of the sale of personal information, certain advertising-related sharing, targeted advertising, or certain profiling that produces legal or similarly significant effects.
- Limit certain uses or disclosures of sensitive personal information, or withdraw consent where processing relies on consent.
- Appeal a denial of a privacy request and contact the relevant regulator.
To submit a request, contact team@trusteefriend.com. Please describe your request and your relationship with TrusteeFriend. Do not include sensitive estate-planning details or identity documents in your initial email.
We may need to verify your identity and authority before fulfilling certain requests. An authorized agent may act for you as permitted by law, subject to appropriate verification. We respond within the time required by applicable law and explain any applicable exception or permitted extension. We do not unlawfully discriminate against you for exercising privacy rights.
If applicable law provides an appeal right, send an appeal to team@trusteefriend.com with the subject “Privacy Appeal.” We will explain the outcome and how to contact the relevant regulator if your appeal is denied.
California residents: Where the California Consumer Privacy Act applies, these rights include knowing about collection and disclosure, access, correction, deletion, opting out of sale or sharing, limiting certain uses of sensitive personal information, and non-discrimination.
California residents may also contact us about disclosures of personal information for third parties’ direct marketing purposes as provided by applicable California law.
10. Children and information about family members
Accounts are restricted to adults aged 18 and older. The Services are not directed to children. We do not knowingly collect personal information directly from children under 13 through their own use of the Services. If you believe a child under 13 has provided information directly to us, contact us so we can investigate and take appropriate action.
Adults may provide information about minor children when preparing an estate plan, such as names, dates of birth, family relationships, and guardian or beneficiary arrangements. We handle that information for the applicable planning and service purposes described in this policy.
11. Independent providers and confidentiality
The Services may link to third-party websites or allow you to work with independent professionals. Their handling of information outside our Services is governed by their own notices, agreements, and applicable obligations.
TrusteeFriend is not a law firm. Sending information to TrusteeFriend does not by itself create an attorney-client relationship or attorney-client privilege. Any relationship with an independent attorney is governed by the arrangements you make with that attorney and applicable law. This does not limit confidentiality or other protections that otherwise apply.
12. Changes to this policy
We may update this policy as our Services or practices change. We will post the updated version and revise the “Last updated” date. For material changes, we will provide additional notice and obtain consent when required by applicable law.
